The Mayor had some fun in Wrigleyville
Former Reds first baseman Sean Casey joined “Off The Mound with Ryan Dempster” and reminisced about a particular trip to Chicago in 2004. The Cubs were only .5 game back from the Wild Card with seven games to go, four against the Reds at home. The Cubs would eventually get eliminated mathematically because of the Reds’ three wins.
“We get about 5 blocks away from Wrigley, and we’re a good time on the bus…I see a neighborhood bar, packed house of Cubs fans…I’m like ‘I gotta get in there…’ I get off the bus. I get into this bar…I yelled at the top of my lungs, ‘Hey, all you Cubs fans…The Cincinnati Reds just kicked your butts. Like they say in Chicago, better luck next season.'”
Let’s just say Sean Casey didn’t make a good decision.
“Here comes 20 people converging on me…I get to the bus driver, yelling, ‘Open the door.’ It opens. I go diving in the bus and land on the step.”
Tune in to Off The Mound with Ryan Dempster on Fridays at 7 p.m. on Marquee Sports Network.
