Virtual Cubs score 2 runs and bullpen shuts down Reds
Kyle Schwarber drove in the only runs for the Cubs today with an RBI double in the 3rd and an RBI single in the 5th. With 2 runs, that was all the Cubs bullpen needed to help preserve a 2-0 victory over the Cincinnati Reds.
Tyler Chatwood started the game strong and ran into trouble in the 5th inning as he went 4.1 innings. That’s when virtual manager David Ross went to the bullpen to hold down the lead. Alec Mills picked up his 7th win of the season and Craig Kimbrel picked up his 16th save as he struck out the side in the 9th inning.
The Cubs now sit 3.5 games back of the Reds and will look to continue to cut into the division lead on Monday. First pitch is at 1 p.m. on our Facebook page.
