Wade Miley mic’d up in the dugout provided some unexpected entertainment

1 year agoKarli Bell

When Wade Miley joined the Marquee Sports Network broadcast in the bottom of the 4th inning, all that was expected was a recap of his stellar outing on Monday.

However, his presence on the headset brought good luck for the Cubs, as they plated 5 runs in the frame.

“Good luck charm,” he said. “Might have to sit here a little while.”

With two on and one out, Boog Sciambi asked if there’s anything else that matches his pace of play.

“I live a pretty lazy, slow-paced life. I don’t know why when I cross the line it speeds up on me,” Miley said, laughing.

Shortly after, Miley showed off his athleticism with a one-handed, no-look grab of a granola bar thrown to him by Yan Gomes.

Gomes continued to throw food, seeds and gum at Miley through the rest of the interview.

“Just so everybody knows in the whole world, he’s been asking to get him some Skechers,” Miley said. “He’ll pick on me about them, but I got him some Skechers sandals. He wears them around in the clubhouse. He knows the comfort deep down. On the outside, he’s going to be talking about it.”

The interview as a whole was insightful, ranging from his pace on the mound to PitchCom usage.
