WATCH: Kerry Wood, Aramis Ramírez officially enter Cubs Hall of Fame
The day Kerry Wood and Aramis Ramírez had been waiting for finally arrived.
After a combined 21 seasons and more than 1,400 games on the North Side, the pair of legends will be immortalized forever in Cubs history.
Wood and Ramírez officially entered the Cubs Hall of Fame Sunday, first with a plaque unveil underneath the left field bleachers and then with a jacket ceremony behind home plate at Wrigley Field.

“I’m speechless,” Ramírez said. “We’re looking at these guys – other Hall of Famers – and putting on the same jacket that they are wearing right now is special.”
Pat Hughes, Fergie Jenkins, Billy Williams, Ryne Sandberg, Rick Sutcliffe, Shawon Dunston and Andre Dawson were among the Cubs Hall of Famers who welcomed Wood and Ramírez into the exclusive club.

“Never in a million years did I think this would be a possibility to be on a list with the guys that we’re joining today,” Wood said. “It’s obviously a huge honor and just humbling.”
Wood and Ramírez played 7 years together with the Cubs (2003-08, 2011) and the longstanding relationship helped add to the special feel of the day.
“I don’t know how many games he won me defensively and offensively,” Wood said of Ramírez. “Such clutch hits late. If there was an important at-bat in the 7th inning on that was going to determine the game, he was the guy we wanted at the plate and it seemed like he came through every time he was up there.”
Ramírez joked that Wood didn’t keep him very busy at third base.
“Sometimes I felt like dropping my glove – he was striking everybody out,” Ramírez said. “It was no fun playing third when Woody was out there. Just a great pitcher and a great competitor.”
