What Ian Happ is hoping to learn from Kyle Tucker with Cubs

On Friday, the Cubs had their full squad workouts from Mesa, Ariz.
That included one player that fans and the rest of the team are focused on. Everybody is looking forward to seeing Kyle Tucker and how much of an impact he can provide in 2025.
For longtime Cubs veteran Ian Happ, he spoke with Elise Menaker from spring training and shared how much he’s looking forward to pick Tucker’s brain.
“I think that’s the exciting part is getting to see somebody else’s routine and what they do that’s been successful. You get to pick their brain and get to see how they look at different pitchers in different situations. Obviously, he’s a great athlete,” Happ said on Tucker. “He’s able to do everything on the field in all aspects.
“Part of the communication part is between him and Pete [Crow-Armstrong], kind of center and right, but just talking to him about Wrigley how it plays, the wall, you know, he’s been around a long time and played really well defensively out there. So I’ll give him anything I can but just excited to watch him and be a teammate.
[Cubs set lofty goals at onset of camp]Looking to build upon last season, Happ became the first Cubs player to lead the team in home runs and win a Gold Glove since new Cubs Hall of Famer Derrek Lee.
As Happ embarks on his 2025 campaign, he’s hoping to consistently put in the work and play through a full season.
“It was a good year for me personally, a lot of good things that I felt good about,” Happ said. “I didn’t start the way I wanted to but was able to figure it out and still put up numbers in the realm of what I wanted to do. Part of that was consistency and being on the field and so, just more of the same. Just a good offseason and working on stuff and just getting the body ready through 162.”
