Why Wrigley Field holds a special place in the heart of ‘Ted Lasso’ star Brendan Hunt
Whether it’s a soccer pitch or a baseball field, some people have a knack for it all.
Ahead of Wednesday’s Cubs-Twins matchup, Brendan Hunt (actor and Chicagoland native best known for his role as Coach Beard on the hit show ‘Ted Lasso’) threw out the first pitch.

Hunt caught up with Elise Menaker ahead of his pitch where he reminisced on his childhood and the days he attended games at Wrigley Field with his sister.
Hunt, who grew up on Chicago’s North Side, detailed the memories he and his sister made as children when they would get dropped off at Wrigley Field by their mother and step-father at 10 a.m. every Saturday to enjoy a Cubs game from the bleachers.
“It’s a thrill and an honor. I’ve been coming here since I was about 4 years old,” said Hunt when asked what it’s like to be throwing out the first pitch.
When Menaker asked about other special memories he made at Wrigley Field, Hunt noted the time he worked inside the ballpark.
One season while Hunt worked selling beer and hot dogs at the concession stand, he encountered his roommate from his first two weeks of college.
To Hunt’s memory, that day was his last day working there as after the awkward encounter, his former roommate exclaimed, “Wow, can’t believe I just bought a beer from a guy I lived with in college!”
It’s safe to say Hunt has had his fair share of success since that moment as he now claims Emmy wins as a writer and producer as well as an Emmy nomination as an actor for his work on ‘Ted Lasso.’
