2025 NFL mock draft roundup: Surprising choice linked to Bears at No. 10

3 weeks agoScott Bair

Producing an NFL mock draft always seems a little silly without the proper NFL draft order. We’ll we’ve got one. Most of it, anyway.

The end of the 2024 season and secured first-round locations for every team that didn’t make the postseason, so 18 teams know where they’re picking in the first round.

Sunday night’s early first-round draft order provided the tentpole required for several big analysts to throw a mock out there, at least for those with secure picks.

That includes the Bears, who are locked in at No. 10 overall.

While most of the recent mocks attach offensive linemen early, USA Today is going bold and taking a running back near the top

Players recently attached to Chicago with the 10th pick mostly include offensive linemen – a major need – with a shocking option from one mock:

Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz, USA Today

No. 10 overall: RB Ashton Jeanty, Boise State

Analysis: “Is using a top-10 selection on a running back a good use of resources for a team with as many issues as the Bears? Maybe not. But there’s little question that Chicago has to take drastic action to better support Caleb Williams after a calamitous debut campaign for the 2024 No. 1 pick. Jeanty, who rushed for 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns in carrying Boise State to the College Football Playoff, is the rare ball carrier capable recalibrating an offense.”

Rob Rang, FOX Sports

No. 10 overall: OL Will Campbell, LSU

Analysis: “The Bears provided Caleb Williams with plenty of weapons but need to do a better job of protecting their precocious young quarterback. An immediate standout who earned Second Team All-SEC honors from league coaches as a true freshman, Campbell ascended to First Team honors in 2023, showing off the size, agility and strength to warrant a selection in the top half of the first round.”

Trevor Sikkema, Pro Football Focus

No. 10 overall: OT Kelvin Banks Jr., Texas

Analysis: “The Bears’ offensive line was still too up-and-down this season for the front office to not make new investments. Banks is small in height and length for a tackle (might be just under 6-foot-4), so he may start his career inside at guard. That could work out flawlessly in Chicago, which seems to have more solidified talent at the tackle spots. His athletic ability is very impressive and provides him with a high ceiling, and he earned 86.8 and 88.0 PFF pass-blocking grades over the past two years.”

Ryan Davis, CBS Sports

No. 10 overall: OT Will Campbell, LSU

Analysis: “Will Campbell has been my OT2 throughout, and while he’s not as athletic as Kelvin Banks Jr., he’s been incredibly consistent throughout his LSU career. He had his struggles with Jared Verse in 2023 (who didn’t), and the formidable South Carolina front four gave him trouble at times this season. But he held his own against Arkansas’ Landon Jackson, who will be a high-round pick in April.”

Nick Baumgardner, The Athletic

No. 6 overall (Projected trade with Las Vegas):  EDGE Abdul Carter, Penn State

Analysis: “Chicago is going to be taking a new direction at head coach, but make no mistake about this roster: There’s plenty to work with here. It’d be a good idea for Chicago to be aggressive here and prioritize a difference-maker like Carter, arguably a top-two prospect in this draft, over waiting on best available at No. 10.”
