Rusty Taft, Chicago Cubs fan

My dad was the biggest Cubs fan I’ve ever known. He raised me a Cubs fan, and that first time I got to see Sammy Sosa run out to right field in person, I knew I’d be a Cubbies fan for the rest of my life. Growing up, our house always had Chicago sports on tv, but there was something extra special about watching the Cubs with my old man. After he got diagnosed with ALS, he had pretty much lost almost all ability to speak by the time the time baseball season came around. But, we could still text back and forth about the Cubs game we were watching, and that made everything much easier. Submitted by Drew Taft
