Bears continue to add depth through free agency

The Bears continued to add depth via free agency on Tuesday.
Ryan Poles sought out veteran TE Gerald Everett to complement Cole Kmet. Everett signed a 2-year deal worth $12 million, per reports.
Entering his 8th season in 2024, Everett has played 4 seasons with the Rams, 2 years with the Chargers and 1 season with the Seahawks. He has 20 career touchdowns in 107 games.
The Bears are signing veteran tight end Gerald Everett on a two-year deal, a source said. He overlapped with offensive coordinator Shane Waldron in both Los Angeles and Seattle, and now joins him in Chicago.

The Bears also added depth to their secondary by way of safety Jonathan Owens.
An undrafted free agent out of Missouri Western, Owens spent the first 4 seasons of his career in Houston before signing with Green Bay in 2023. Owens started 11 of the Packers’ 17 regular season games last season, as well as both postseason games.
The Bears are signing safety Jonathan Owens on a two-year deal, a source said. He has played five NFL seasons and 48 games, including 30 starts over the last two years.

Owens is married to Olympic Gold Medalist Simone Biles, who was happy to see her husband sign in Chicago.
