Bears kicker wins NFL monthly award
After propelling Chicago to a big divisional win Monday night with 4 field goals, Bears kicker Cairo Santos got some recognition.
On Thursday, Santos was named the NFC’s Special Teams Player of the Month. In November, where the Bears went 2-2, Santos made 12-of-14 field goals, including 3 from over 50 yards, and was 5-for-5 on extra points.

Santos accounted for 41 of Chicago’s 71 points throughout the month, including hitting the 30-yard game winner against the Vikings with 0:10 left on the clock. He is also tied for the league lead for 50-yard field goals in November with 3. Santos is 5-for-5 on field goals from 50+ yards this season, which is the most he has made in his career.
Since 2020, Santos is 4th in the NFL with a 90.9 field goal percentage, and he is the Bears’ all-time leader in field goal percentage at 90.2. He has made 101 field goals as a Bear, which is fifth most in franchise history. This season, he is 23-of-25.
This is the second time Santos has won the NFC Special Teams Player of the Month, both with the Bears. He also won the award in December 2020, and in November 2016 won Special Teams Player of the Month for the AFC with the Chiefs.
