Bill Belichick reportedly off market in Chicago Bears search for head coach
There’s no telling whether the Bears were even considering Bill Belichick as an option to be their head coach.
He’s off the market now.
Belichick is going to be the head coach at the University of North Carolina, per multiple reports. That takes one name off the eligibility list for the Bears, who will be looking for a head coach this offseason.

It’s hard to imagine that the Bears would’ve gone down the Belichick route, considering how much autonomy he was looking for. GM Ryan Poles remains a mainstay in the organization, so it was always highly unlikely that he would be considered in Chicago.
The Bears still must find a new head coach. Interim head coach Thomas Brown is a candidate. There will be many others once the season ends, likely those willing to work with Poles in helping establish a new and better normal in Chicago.
