NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported the team added a year and some guaranteed money to a deal that now runs through the 2027 season.
He now has three years left on his contract and added $7 million in full guaranteed and $5.25 million for injury.
That’s. sign of good will and commitment to a player who struggled in 2024 but played really well for Ben Johnson when both of them were in Detroit.
Johnson called him a “Pro Bowl caliber guard” in a Wednesday press conference, and Jackson was legitimately excited about the prospect of reuniting with Johnson here in Chicago. He’ll play right guard, his natural position, with Joe Thuney on the left.
The Bears have stability from the center to right tackle, with Drew Dalman, Jackson and Darnell Wright all under contract for the next three seasons.
“When you go back and see when he was in Detroit … shoot, I can go all the way back to Rutgers when I watched him,” general manager Ryan Poles said. “The guy is made of the right stuff, and he’s capable of really helping us up front anchoring, but also getting push in the run game.”
