Chicago corner dedicated to legendary WGN sports producer Jack Rosenberg
On Wednesday, August 18, the city of Chicago dedicated the corner of E. Illinois St. and Cityfront Plaza Dr. with an honorary street sign to longtime WGN sports producer Jack “Rosey” Rosenberg. He passed away in December of 2020.
WGN’s Bob Sirott was the leader of ceremonies and was joined by Chicago White Sox commentator Steve Stone, WGN sports director Dave Eanet, WGN director of production Bob Vorwold and Rosenberg’s family.
“Jack was a great sports editor, a great producer, a great journalist, but above all, he was a Hall of Fame person,” Sirott said.
42nd ward alderman Brendan Reilly read from the proclamation from the city, “While Rosenberg himself was rarely heard on air, the click-clack of Rosey’s portable typewriter in the background during Cubs’ broadcasts on WGN was the soundtrack of the summer.”
Rosenberg retired in 1994 after a 40 year career with WGN.
