Cubs-Orioles finale postponed until August

2 years agoTony Andracki

An endless onslaught of rain has delayed the Cubs-Orioles series finale in Baltimore for a couple of months.

After the Orioles took Game 1 Tuesday night, Wednesday’s contest was delayed at the outset. After nearly two hours, the game was officially postponed.

The Cubs will finish off their quick series in Baltimore on Thursday, Aug. 18 at 2:05 p.m. CT. The Cubs are in Washington D.C. for a series with the Nationals earlier in that week and head home to host the Brewers on Aug. 19.

That will create a tough stretch for the Cubs in the dog days of August. The team has an off-day on Aug. 1 and then plays 30 games over the next 30 days, with the only reprieve coming Aug. 12 (the day after the Field of Dreams game).

The Cubs also have a doubleheader slated for Aug. 23 at Wrigley Field.

The rain means the Cubs now have three off-days this week, as Monday and Thursday were previously scheduled. The Orioles head to Kansas City Thursday evening to begin a series with the Royals.

The Cubs will head to New York for a 3-game set against the Yankees in the Bronx beginning Friday.
