Cubs unveil special-edition jerseys from local artists for heritage celebrations

11 months agoStaff Report

The Chicago Cubs announced that they will be working with local artists to create one-of-a-kind giveaway jerseys for five different heritage celebrations: Mexican, Puerto Rican, Greek, Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month and Hispanic and Latino Heritage Month.

The team unveiled what the jerseys will look like on X:

The Cubs teamed up with Pilsen-based, Mexican-American street artist Joseph Perez – also known as Sentrock – to celebrate Mexican heritage, and muralist Cristian J. Roldán Aponte for the Puerto Rican heritage giveaway jersey. Both artists tapped into traditional patterns and symbolism of their respective countries to help design both jerseys.

Painter and muralist Liz Flores designed the jersey for the annual Hispanic and Latino Heritage Month Celebration, incorporating Latino-inspired elements with the Wrigley Field ivy.

Theodora Pavlou designed the Greek heritage jersey, combining elements from Greek mythology with baseball.
