Former Cub Nick Madrigal reportedly headed to New York

Former Cubs infielder Nick Madrigal is reportedly signing with the New York Mets.
Joel Sherman of MLB Network and the New York Post reported the news Friday afternoon:
The Cubs non-tendered Madrigal in late-November to clear room on their 40-man roster.
The 27-year-old infielder was often injured throughout his time with the Cubs after being acquired in a trade with the White Sox in 2021.

Madrigal appeared in 202 games for the Cubs from 2022-24, serving as the team’s starting second baseman and third baseman at various points during that tenure.
He hit .251/.304/.312 (.616 OPS) during the 616 plate appearances on the North Side while accruing 1.3 WAR.
The Cubs have added several infield options to their bench this season, including Rule 5 pick Gage Workman as well as veterans Jon Berti and Vidal Bruján.
