Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant joined Off The Mound with Ryan Dempster to talk about the friendship and the strong bond with his teammate Anthony Rizzo. 

Since the moment Bryant joined the Cubs in 2015, he and Rizzo became fast friends.

“When I got drafted, I had heard the name before but I never really knew who Anthony Rizzo was,” Bryant said. “When I got to the big leagues and started to know him more, know him better and see the type of person and ballplayer he is, he’s just someone that I want to be around.” 

Bryant’s respect for his first baseman extends off the field, ensuring a lifelong connection.

“I would love to play baseball with him for the rest of my life. I always know that he’ll always be one of my greatest friends and someone that I will always be around until the day that I’m no longer here and that means a lot to me,” Bryant said. “He’s such a class act and I appreciate him so much.”
