Jason Heyward’s blast powers virtual Cubs to victory

4 years agoTony Andracki

With the Cubs already leading 1-0 in Monday’s MLB The Show 20 simulation, Jason Heyward mashed a 3-run shot into the right field bleachers to put the game out of reach.

The Cubs wound up beating the Brewers 6-2 for their second victory in a row after a recent stretch of losing. They are now 22-20 on the simulated season and tied for second with Milwaukee in the NL Central, 5.5 games behind the Cincinnati Reds.

The home run was Heyward’s 8th of the campaign and he now has 21 RBI. Kyle Schwarber added a double and drove in his 33rd run while Ian Happ and Jason Kipnis also chipped in with RBIs.

Six different Cubs players scored runs in the affair as they collected 8 hits and drew a pair of walks as a team.

Yu Darvish improved his record to 3-2 with a quality start, allowing only 2 runs in 6 innings while striking out 4. He has a 2.23 ERA on the season.

Trevor Megill got the hold (his first of the season) with a scoreless 7th inning while Jeremy Jeffress shut the Brewers down from there, surrendering only a hit in 2 innings.
