Marquee Sports Network earns three regional Emmy awards

“Cubs Live!” recognized for outstanding achievement in a live sports program;
Network earns awards for outstanding sports documentary and sports interview/discussion

CHICAGO – Marquee Sports Network this past weekend earned three Chicago/Midwest Regional Emmy® Awards, including outstanding live sports program, outstanding sports documentary, and outstanding achievement for a sports interview/discussion. The network earned 12 total nominations across 11 different categories.

Marquee Sports Network was honored with the following Chicago/Midwest Regional Emmy Awards:

  • Cubs Live!
    Outstanding Achievement for Sports Single Program/Series – Live
  • Glory and Grief: The Ferguson Jenkins Story
    Outstanding Achievement for Sports – Documentary
  • Class is in Session
    Outstanding Achievement for Sports – Interview/Discussion – Short or Long Form Content

A special nod goes out to Doug Glanville and the Class is in Session team on a second-straight year of well-deserved recognition, as well as a thank you to Ferguson Jenkins for allowing us to share his story and to our partners at MLB Network and Cubs Productions for their continued excellence.”

In addition to the categories above, Marquee Sports Network also received Emmy nominations for the following categories: post-produced sports program (Let’s Play Two), one-time sports special (Cubs Trade Deadline Special), live sporting event (Cubs Baseball), sports documentary (Billy Williams: The Sweet Swinger), sports promotion (We Get All of It), on-camera sports talent (Cole Wright, Jon Sciambi), graphic acts/motion graphics (Joe Grochocki, Brandon Fishman) and sports editing (Lance Brozdowski).

Outstanding Achievement for Sports – Live Sporting Event – Single Game/Series

Glory and Grief: The Ferguson Jenkins Story details all of Cubs legend Ferguson Jenkins’ tremendous on-field accomplishments and successes, while acknowledging the tremendous hardships and loss he has had to endure off the field, and how those hardships have shaped his outlook on life and his relationships with family and friends. The heartfelt documentary features rarely seen footage from the MLB archives and exclusive interviews with MLB teammates, including Billy Williams and Randy Hundley, as well as his son, Raymond, and daughters Delores, Kelly and Kimberly.

Outstanding Achievement for Sports – Interview/Discussion – Short or Long Form Content

Former Chicago Cubs outfielder Doug Glanville welcomes in a distinguished panel to discuss the Hall of Fame selection process across professional sports, focusing on the debate regarding how leagues should weigh a player’s character when considering enshrinement. Panelists on this episode include Hall of Fame pitcher Fergie Jenkins, long-time journalist and MLB Hall of Fame voter, Joe Posnanski, and member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame selection committee, Dan Pompei.
