NFL rumors: Bears acquire Jonah Jackson in trade with Rams
The Bears have acquired offensive lineman Jonah Jackson from the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for a 2025 6th-round draft pick, per ESPN’s Courtney Cronin.
It’s a move that solidifies the belief Ryan Poles and Ben Johnson will be focusing on upgrading the offensive line this offseason to lay the foundation for Johnson’s new offense.
Jackson and Johnson already have a history. Jackson was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2020 NFL draft by the Detroit Lions and played under Johnson from 2020-2023 before moving on to the Rams for the 2024 season.
Jackson appeared in just 4 games during the 2024 season due to a shoulder injury that was originally suffered in training camp. He reaggravated the injury in the second game of the season and was placed on injured reserve. He did not appear in either of the Rams’ playoff games.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Jackson is scheduled to make $17.5 million with the Bears taking on the entirety of his contract.
Despite suffering an injury-plagued 2024, Jackson has great upside potential for the Bears up front. Back in a familiar offense under Johnson, Jackson could see himself return to his Pro Bowl form of 2021.
Jackson’s 2021 Pro Bowl campaign was impressive, playing over 1,000 snaps and allowing just 4 sacks, something that the Bears and Caleb Williams desperately would love to have on their offensive line.
He signed with the Rams as a free agent following the 2023 season, inking a 3-year, $51 million deal.
Under Johnson in Detroit, Jackson was a consistent piece of the offensive line and the Lions’ newfound offensive success. If able to stay healthy, Jackson could be an integral and consistent piece of the Bears’ offensive line, a line that suffered exactly that – inconsistency.
