Reports: Bears move on from several coaching staff members
The key to Ben Johnson’s success as the next head coach of the Chicago Bears is building a supporting coaching staff that he trusts with plenty of league experience.
Of course, building the staff that Johnson wants means changes to the current Bears coaching staff.
Thursday morning, The Athletic’s Adam Jahns reported interim head coach Thomas Brown, interim offensive coordinator Chris Beatty, offensive line coach Chris Morgan, quarterbacks coach Kerry Joseph and defensive coordinator Eric Washington will not be returning to the Bears organization next season:
During his time as Bears interim head coach, Brown led the team to a record of 1-4, notably beating the Packers in the final game of the season. Brown interviewed for the Bears head coach position earlier this offseason and has interviewed for the vacant Seahawks OC position.

He took over for Matt Eberflus when the team parted ways with the veteran head coach after the Bears’ Thanksgiving loss to Johnson and the Lions.
Now that Johnson is in the fold with the Bears, he will get to work on adding assistant coaches around him.
“The No. 1 thing is going to be building the staff,” Johnson said in a 1-on-1 interview with Marquee Sports Network’s Scott Bair.
