NFL rumors: Scott Daly, Bears agree on contract to retain long snapper

The Bears decided to keep on their current track at the long snapper spot. They are re-signing Scott Daly over reverting to Patrick Scales, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Scales was Chicago’s long snapper for eight seasons, but dealt with a back injury that kept him out the entire season. Daly filled in well and ultimately earned the permanent position outright. He had a leg up in the competition, however, considering he spent his previous three seasons with the Detroit Lions. New Bears head coach Ben Johnson was there then and saw Daly work in person. His efforts there and in Chicago ultimately earned a return engagement working for remaining special teams coordinator Richard Hightower.
