Off The Mound: Geovany Soto and Ryan Dempster reminisce about the 2008 All-Star Game
Former Cubs catcher and 2008 NL Rookie of the Year Geovany Soto joined Off The Mound with Ryan Dempster Friday on Marquee Sports Network where both Soto and Dempster reminisced about what the bullpen was like in the 2008 All-Star Game at old Yankee Stadium.
Soto did what few would do at the All-Star Game, according to Dempster, and went down to the bullpen to help warm up other pitchers, including Dempster. Apparently, warm-ups did not mimic the performance Dempster put on the diamond.
“You weren’t really supposed to go in in a tie ball game…Dude, you did not throw a single strike for like the first 18 pitches,” Soto said.
However, Dempster did go into the 9th inning to strike out the side and force extra innings.
Tune in every Friday for a new episode of Off the Mound with Ryan Dempster on Marquee Sports Network.
