Bears make decisions on coaching staff

4 months ago • Tony Andracki

The Bears have made a handful of coaching decisions.

The Bears will not make a change at head coach and will retain Matt Eberflus for the 2024 season.

The Bears also fired offensive coordinator Luke Getsy and quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko:

Eberflus just wrapped up his second season at the helm, where he helped guide the Bears to a late-season turnaround and a 7-10 record.

Getsy has been the Bears’ offensive coordinator the last two seasons. Prior to his time in Chicago, he was the Packers’ quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator.

Janocko has served as the QB coach in Chicago during Getsy and Eberflus’ tenure.

The Bears ranked 20th in yards and 18th in points scored in the NFL during the 2023 season. They were also 27th in passing yards.

The numbers were worse in 2022, as the Bears ranked 23rd in points, 28th in total yards and dead last (32nd) in passing yards.

The Bears front office will have to make a determination this spring on the future of Justin Fields and whether to retain him or trade him away and select a quarterback with the No. 1 overall pick. Now Eberflus will get the chance to help fill the offensive coaching staff around the 2024 QB.
