Robbie Gould’s holiday wishlist for Bears
As we approach the holiday season, everybody is making a list of wants and needs. Former Bears kicker Robbie Gould shared his holiday wishlist for the Bears this upcoming offseason on Tuesday’s “Bears Den.”
With the Bears firing head coach Matt Eberflus and going to interim head coach Thomas Brown, Gould believes their obvious want is a head coach.
“They’re going to need a head coach that’s going to bring accountability. They’re going to need a head coach that can help develop Caleb [Williams] for a longer period of time than just the one season or two seasons or three seasons that we’re used to. So to me, I can’t wait to see how this unfolds. I think it’s going to be unique to see them do something different,” Gould said on Bears Den. “Money should not be an option. Go get the right guy and get the right guy now.”
Through Week 15, the Bears record stands at 4-9 and are currently on a 7-game losing streak. With rookie quarterback Williams under center, he has taken 56 sacks on the year, the most by a Bears quarterback in a single season. Gould’s “need” is to find offensive line help for Williams.
“If you look at the Bears, Caleb Williams has been sacked the most out of any quarterback in the history of the franchise. To me, it’s going to be O-line help. You have 6 guys that are going to enter free agency at the end of the season. You talk about Kevin Warren in his press conference saying we have plenty of draft capital. We also have plenty of cap space. It’s a unique experience for a head coach that we want to be able to come here. So you’re going to have to be able to build around Caleb with an offensive line to help to get the run game going but also to keep him upright,” Gould said.
