What will Bears’ NFL Draft strategy be with No. 10 pick?

1 month agoZoe Grossman

The NFL Draft is just over a month away, and the Bears have a plethora of routes to go down when it comes to the 10th overall pick.

After an aggressive opening to free agency in which the Bears bolstered their ultimate needs on the offensive and defensive lines, the attention now turns to head coach Ben Johnson and general manager Ryan Poles’ draft strategy. Do they take a player at a skill position, or do they continue to address the offensive line to further protect Caleb Williams?

On the newest edition of the Bears on the Marquee podcast, Bears insider Scott Bair along with Mike Norman and Carmen Vitali broke down potential decisions that Johnson and Poles will have to make.

“My natural instinct is to go to luxury items like Ashton Jeanty,” Bair said. “But, Daniel Jeremiah just put Will Campbell to the Bears at No. 10 because Braxton Jones is at the end of his rookie deal.”

Boise State running back Jeanty and LSU offensive lineman Campbell have been two of the most-mentioned fits for the Bears in the 2025 draft.

Jeanty was college football’s most prolific offensive player last year, rushing for 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns in 2024. The Heisman Trophy runner-up was just 28 yards shy of Barry Sanders’ single-season NCAA rushing record. Jeanty’s strength in the backfield could be very useful and the Bears have needed an upgrade at the position since David Montgomery’s departure. Montgomery, who joined the Detroit Lions in 2023, was the most recent Bears running back with a 1,000-yard season all the way back in 2020.

Campbell, a 6-foot-6, 319-pound offensive tackle, ranked as the second overall prospect at his position in the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine. He is coming off of a monster junior season in which he earned first team All-American and All-SEC honors while being a finalist for the Lombardi Award – awarded to the top lineman in the nation.

“This is such a good situation to be in,” Vitali added of the Bears’ options. “We’ve seen teams take the best player available even if it’s not their biggest need at the time, and that player turns into a cornerstone for them for years to come.”

The NFL Draft will take place from April 24-26 in Green Bay. Listen to the full new episode of the Bears on the Marquee podcast here:
