2 years agoTony Andracki

Tuesday night, the Tennessee Smokies threw their second combined no-hitter of the 2022 season.

The Cubs’ Double-A affiliate blanked the Rocket City Trash Pandas 2-0 at Smokies Stadium in Kodak, Tenn.

Anderson Espinoza — who made his MLB debut in Chicago last month — started the game for the Smokies and struck out 7 in 5 shutout innings, allowing only a walk.

Samuel Reyes followed with 2 hitless frames before Bryan King and Nicholas Padilla shut the door with a scoreless inning apiece.

The quartet of Smokies pitchers combined for 12 strikeouts and only 3 walks against the Angels’ Double-A affiliate.

Tennessee also threw a team no-hitter on May 11, as three pitchers combined to accomplish the feat in a 5-0 victory.
