It’s the year of the 100 homer club at Wrigley Field.

After Willson Contreras accomplished the feat earlier this season, teammate Ian Happ followed suit Sunday afternoon.

Happ’s 387-foot shot was a towering blast to right field, becoming the 26th player in Cubs franchise history to reach the 100-homer plateau.

“It’s really cool to have a milestone like that and achieve it in this ballpark,” Happ said. “When you look at it in the context of the game and the history of the game, you see the numbers of the people that have done it all time — there’s a lot of people that have played this game — and to be up there and some of those things you get to check off, it’s humbling and it’s something that I take a lot of pride in.”

It gave the Cubs a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning off Brandon Woodruff and followed a pair of quality at-bats by Nick Madrigal (13 pitches) and Nico Hoerner (7 pitches) to begin the game.

The milestone was also something Happ was aware of earlier in the season as his name was mentioned in trade rumors.

“This was one of the things that as the deadline was going past, I wanted to get to 100 before my time here was done,” Happ said. “Being able to be here and get a chance to do it is really special.”

Here are the numbers behind Happ’s 100 career longballs:

—64 solo homers

—25 2-run shots

—9 3-run blasts

—2 grand slams

—He has 85 homers from the left side and 15 as a right-handed hitter.

—Sunday’s blast was his 52nd homer at Wrigley Field.

—He has hit more homers against the Reds (25) than anybody else.

—He has also homered 16 times at Great American Ballpark, hence the phrase, “Ian Happ never leaves Cincinnati without a homer.”

—Adam Wainwright is the pitcher most victimized by Happ, as the veteran has surrendered 4 homers to the Cubs’ slugger (both coming in 2-HR games on Sept. 28, 2019 and Sept. 5, 2020).

—The longest homer he’s recorded at Wrigley Field came on Aug. 5, 2019 when he sent a Blake Treinen pitch 474 feet.

—His furthest homer on the road was 451 feet off of St Louis’ Luis Garcia on Oct. 2, 2021.

—The fastest pitch Happ has hit for a dinger is 99.4 mph off Hunter Greene on May 26, 2022.

—The slowest pitch was clocked at 75.8 mph off of a Wainwright curveball in 2019.

—Happ has 9 career multi-homer games.

—He has 5 homers to lead off the 1st inning (in the top or bottom half of the frame), including Opening Day 2018 when he sent the very first pitch of the MLB season into the right field bleachers in Miami.

—Sunday marked his 17th homer in the 1st inning, the most he has hit in any frame.

—It was also his 21st homer out of the No. 3 spot in the batting order (the most of any lineup position).

—Happ now has 31 career longballs in August, the most of any calendar month.

—11 of his homers have come in Interleague play.

—He has 1 career postseason dinger, a solo shot in Game 1 of the 2020 Wild Card Series at Wrigley Field.

—Entering play Sunday, the Cubs were 55-35 in games in which Happ has homered.

—Happ has taken 50 different pitchers deep. He also hit his 51st career homer off Woodruff at Wrigley Field on Opening Day of the shortened 2020 season.

—Craig Kimbrel is the only former teammate Happ has homered off (Aug. 27, 2021 against the White Sox).
