Bears injury report: Elijah Hicks among those ruled out versus Lions
The Bears ruled out safety Elijah Hicks and offensive lineman Ryan Bates for Thursday’s game against the Detroit Lions.
Hicks was designated as out on three straight estimated participation reports, as the Bears only conducted walk-throughs during this short practice week following an overtime Sunday loss to Minnesota.

Bates was limited in practice estimates, but wasn’t deemed ready after dealing with a concussion suffered two games back.
Hicks got hurt in a Week 11 loss to Green Bay, while trying to defend a deep shot. He had started the five previous games as a fill-in for Jaquan Brisker, who has been out an extended stretch dealing with a concussion and is now on injured reserve.
The Bears kept their practice week like to be as physically and mentally ready as possible heading into a holiday game.
“Their mindset has to be able to flip this around fast, get your preparation in,” head coach Matt Eberflus said. “It’s really about the collective spirit of the team. Playing with the passion you need to play with in these games, going in there for a Thanksgiving game – a lot of guys for the first time for the Thanksgiving game. It’s a special event and the guys are excited about the competition tomorrow.”
