Kahleah Copper stepping into new roles for 2023 season

11 months agoKarli Bell

Guard Kahleah Copper knew what her approach wanted to be entering into the 2023 WNBA season as the new leader for the Chicago Sky.

“Just really being yourself and being consistent,” Copper said. “When you’re leading by doing things you’re supposed to do, people will respect that. Holding yourself accountable top to bottom so you’ll be able to tell everybody else what they need to do.

“I think this year for me is about giving a little more grace. When people have given me grace in the past, it has done nothing but help me grow.”

Copper also gained a new perspective on the business side of basketball with her heavy involvement in free agency with general manager James Wade.

“It was a lot. It was me stepping into this role and what I have to be for this team. I think we had an understanding that it’s really important for me to be involved in that process, who I think would be great for our culture and on the court,” Copper said.
