NFL mock draft 2025: Mel Kiper Jr. makes Bears No. 10 pick projection

2 weeks agoKyle Millinowisch

NFL mock draft season is in full effect with the 2025 draft less than two weeks away.

ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. — perhaps the most well-known NFL draft analyst — predicts in his latest mock draft that the Bears will use the No. 10 overall pick on Penn State tight end Tyler Warren, and he justifies it by highlighting Chicago’s numerous offensive line acquisitions this offseason.

“Offseason moves to add interior offensive linemen Joe ThuneyJonah Jackson and Drew Dalman should buy Caleb Williams more time to throw,” Kiper wrote earlier this week. “Landing Warren would give the second-year quarterback another reliable target. New Bears coach Ben Johnson could line up Warren anywhere, get him the ball and let him roll to first downs after the catch.”

Warren is coming off a career year at Penn State, as he helped lead the Nittany Lions to the College Football Playoff semifinals, where they lost to Notre Dame. Warren appeared in all 16 games last season, racking up 104 receptions for 1,233 yards and eight touchdowns.

Warren’s versatility could play to new Bears coach Ben Johnson’s strengths. When Johnson was the Detroit Lions’ offensive coordinator, he often use players in unique ways. You might remember offensive lineman Penei Sewell trying to attempt a pass against the Bears on Thanksgiving Day.

Warren isn’t just a pass-catching tight end. He also rushed for 218 yards and four TDs in 2024 en route to winning the John Mackey Award, given to college football’s most outstanding tight end.

Oh, and by the way, Warren also attempted six passes last season. He went 3-for-6 for 35 yards and one TD.

Another skill-position player whom Bears fans want is Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty. However, Kiper predicts Jeanty won’t be available at No. 10, as he pegs the Las Vegas Raiders picking him at No. 6.
