Devin Hester wants Bears to pick playmaker at No. 10 in 2025 NFL Draft

Chicago Bears great Devin Hester knows a thing or two about how a playmaker can impact a team. The Pro Football Hall of Famer, after all, is the all-time record holder with 20 return touchdowns.
So when Hester talks about the importance of adding playmakers to a roster, it holds a little more weight.
The four-time Pro Bowl return man went on the “Up and Adams” show with host Kay Adams on Thursday, and discussed what the Bears should do with the No. 10 overall pick in the upcoming NFL draft.
The Bears also had the No. 10 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and used it on offensive tackle Darnell Wright. Marquee Sports Network Bears insider Scott Bair projected the Bears going a similar route this year, too, with LSU offensive tackle Will Campbell to Chicago in his latest NFL mock draft.
But Hester would prefer the Bears use the pick on a skill-position player.
“I feel like right now in Chicago, we just need another playmaker,” Hester said. “A big playmaker to stand out. Somebody that can put points on the board, to be honest.”
The Bears averaged just 18.2 points per game last season, ranking them 28th in the NFL. Coach Ben Johnson was brought in to improve Chicago’s offense, so selecting a skill-position player at No. 10 certainly should be on the table. But, as Hester knows, which player will be available at that spot could be surprising.
“It’s so unique with the draft because you don’t know who’s going in the first nine picks.” Hester said. “In the top five picks, there is going to be one of those picks that’s unexpected, (a) crazy draft pick (that’ll) shake up the draft.”

With the Bears already having wide receivers DJ Moore and Rome Odunze, picking a running back or a tight end at No. 10 could be an option. Johnson had his “Sonic and Knuckles” combination in the Detroit Lions’ backfield with Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery, so he could target the same thing in Chicago by targeting Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty. Johnson and Bears general manager weren’t shy about sharing where starting running back D’Andre Swift could improve.
Penn State tight end Tyler Warren had a standout season, numerous analysts have projected him to go to the Bears.
We’ll know which direction the Bears go in just two weeks, but Hester has spoken.
