Reports: Bears expected to sign GM Ryan Poles to contract extension

The Chicago Bears are reportedly making moves to extend general manager Ryan Poles to a contract extension that aligns with new head coach Ben Johnson’s 5-year contract according to Courtney Cronin of ESPN.
“According to a team source with knowledge of the situation, Poles’ deal runs through the 2026 season, and the expectation is he will receive an extension to align him with Johnson, who signed a five-year contract with Chicago, a term that is common for first-time head coaches,” Cronin wrote.
This reported extension falls in line with a litany of additions to the coaching staff, most recently being Dan Roushar as the offensive line coach.

Poles’ current contract runs through the 2026 season. In his tenure as general manager, Poles holds a record of 15-36 since being hired in 2022.
With plenty of cap space, Caleb Williams and a new head coach in Johnson, a contract extension for Poles would provide the franchise with stability in leadership roles for the first time since the Marc Trestman era.
