Tom Brady FaceTimes Caleb Williams after NFL legend pulls signed Bears QB card
If young NFL quarterbacks ever wanted a stamp of approval from someone, it’d be from Tom Brady.
The seven-time Super Bowl champion and three-time NFL MVP was at a grand-opening event for CardVault, his sports trading card company, when he pulled a Topps card signed by Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams.
The first thing Brady did was FaceTime Williams to tell him the news.
“Listen, I just pulled one of your cards — autographed,” Brady told Williams.
“That’s one of the best cards to have of me!” Williams replied with a smile.
Brady, who made his broadcasting debut for FOX last season, made a shocking on-air revelation that he nearly joined the Bears in 2020 before instead signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“Ultimately, Chicago was a team — and I never told that story before — they were very stealth in their recruitment,” Brady said during the broadcast of the Bucs’ Week 4 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. “I was seriously considering them.”
Even though Brady never became a Bear, he’s now become a mentor for Williams.
The two were spotted speaking before the Bears’ Week 11 clash with the Green Bay Packers last year. Williams threw for 231 yards with a 74.2 percent completion rate in that game, and with less than two minutes left in the contest, he completed a 21-yard fourth-down pass to Rome Odunze to put the Bears in game-winning field-goal range.
The Bears lost when the field-goal attempt was blocked, but Williams nevertheless showed what he could do in a clutch situation — and Brady loved what he saw.
Though Williams had an up-and-down rookie season, the Bears have improved their offensive line this offseason, in an effort to better protect their budding star QB. That has left Williams with some lofty expectations, and Brady quizzed him on that over FaceTime.
“Is (the card) going to be worth more or less after this coming season?,” Brady quipped to Williams.
“A lot more!” Williams said.
“All right, good,” Brady replied. “That’s what I want to hear.”
