2021 Olympics with or without MLB players?
Bruce Levine, Len Kasper and Sean Marshall joined Cole Wright on Cubs 360 Daily, presented by Miller Lite to discuss the option of having MLB players play in the 2021 Olympics.
Kasper believes there are some major problems with allowing players to play in the Olympic games.
“You can’t, in my opinion, late in the summer in a baseball season, shut down the sport for 2-3 weeks and have players go off and play in what is essentially an exhibition tournament…I think 2021 is the last year you want to interrupt a major league season, because we don’t even know what the 2020 season will look like.”
Sean Marshall offered a different option because of it being the summer Olympics.
“We do have this thing called the World Baseball Classic, and it’s been awesome…It’s been great to see an international pool of excellent baseball players play in this tournament. I believe that will be penciled in for 2021 as well.”
