Opening Day: What You Need To Know

3 years agoStaff Report

Tune in for Opening Day coverage this Thursday as the Cubs open the regular season against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Wrigley Field. Pregame coverage begins with Cubs Live! presented by Toyota at 11 a.m. and game coverage beginning at 1 p.m. See below for all the things you need to know to watch Cubs baseball on Marquee Sports Network so you don’t miss first pitch, including downloading the latest version of the Marquee Sports Network App (1.6.5), checking the channel finder for channel numbers and providers in your area and subscribing to an out-of-market streaming package if you live outside the Cubs television territory.

WHERE CAN I WATCH?

Anywhere! Live Cubs games on Marquee Sports Network are available to fans either through in-market cable and streaming options for fans inside the Cubs television territory, or via MLB.TV and MLB Extra Innings for fans living outside of the Cubs television territory. Marquee is available on more than 50 cable providers in portions of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa and Wisconsin, as well as on the streaming platform AT&T TV for those consumers without traditional cable. FuboTV will be available as an additional in-market streaming option shortly after Opening Day. HOW CAN I WATCH?

In addition to traditional television viewing, authenticated subscribers can watch live Cubs games on the Marquee Sports Network App. On iOS devices, Android devices, Apple TV, Fire TV or Roku, launch the Marquee Sports Network app (free to download), select your provider, sign-in with your provider credentials, and you will have full access to live streaming of Marquee Sports Network programming and Cubs games, if you reside in the Cubs broadcast territory (per MLB rules). Authenticated subscribers can also live stream Cubs games using the web-version of the app by going to www.MarqueeSportsNetwork.com.

Having technical issues? Make sure you are logged in with your provider credentials and have the latest version of the app downloaded (Version 1.6.5). The app was updated during the offseason so make sure you have the newest version!

WHO’S THE NEW GUY?

Marquee Sports Network made a splash this offseason, hiring popular ESPN broadcaster and personality Jon “Boog” Sciambi as the lead play-by-play announcer on Marquee Sports Network. Sciambi will work alongside returning analyst Jim Deshaies and field reporters Taylor McGregor and Elise Menaker.

Sciambi will miss a few games throughout the season with ESPN obligations, but Marquee has brought in three highly-qualified voices to serve as play-by-play announcer for those games: Cubs radio broadcaster Pat Hughes, ESPN great and broadcasting pioneer Beth Mowins and Emmy Award-winning Fox broadcast Chris Myers.

BUT, WHAT WILL THE BROADCASTERS BE WEARING?

Big news regarding the on-air style of Boog and JD this season …

WHEN DOES PREGAME COVERAGE START?

Tune in all season for extensive pregame and postgame coverage surrounding every Marquee Sports Network broadcast, as well as postgame coverage for nationally-televised games. Cole Wright hosts Cubs Live! presented by Toyota beginning one hour prior to every game (two hours prior to the game on Opening Day) and Cubs Postgame Live! presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois beginning as soon as the final out is recorded.

WHAT ELSE CAN I WATCH ON MARQUEE?

In addition to live Cubs games and pregame and postgame coverage, Marquee has exclusive Cubs-related programming all year long, including historic games, countdown and trivia shows, original documentaries and one-of-a-kind interview shows, featuring Ryan Dempster, Doug Glanville and Chris Myers.
