Bruce Levine: Sammy Sosa brought to tears when Cubs won 2016 World Series

4 years agoStaff Report

Sammy Sosa was just as happy as any Cubs fan on November 2, 2016.

On Monday’s Cubs 360 Daily, Bruce Levine shared some nuggets from his interview with Sosa on 670 The Score from earlier in the day, including watching the Cubs win the 2016 World Series

“He cried when the Cubs won,” Levine told host Cole Wright. “He was so happy for the fanbase, the city of Chicago and the organization.”

Sosa joined Levine and morning show hosts David Haugh and Mike Mulligan after the premiere of ESPN’s documentary, “Long Gone Summer”, which chronicled Sosa and Cardinals slugger Mark McGwire’s chase for Roger Maris’ home run record in 1998.

While Sosa played for four organizations in his 18-year career, Levine said Sosa affiliates most with the Cubs.

“It’s all about the Chicago Cubs,” Levine said, “and his heart is there.”
