Can a 16-team postseason expansion work?
Carlos Peña, Taylor McGregor and Jim Deshaies joined Cole Wright on Cubs 360 Daily to discuss the proposal of expanding the postseason to 16 teams and if it can work with a reduced 2020 season.
Deshaies says this could be a great fix to still have high quality basbeall with a shortened season.
“The beauty of the long season of major league baseball. 162 games. The cream rises to the top. Well in a shortened season…the cream might not always rise to the top, but let’s create a scenario in the postseason where that’s more likely to happen.”
McGregor gave some hope and inspiration to what baseball can become if this was instilled this season.
“Right now, in the state of our society with a lack of sport, if baseball would come back and be one of the main shows on television…the amount of eyeballs that would be on a postseason run would be enormous.”
