3 weeks agoKarli Bell

The Chicago Stars have continued their offseason additions with the signing of midfielder Manaka Hayashi to a 3-year contract. Hayashi has been the captain of the Japanese U-20 Women’s Youth National Team since 2023.

I’m so excited to join this organization. I’m very thankful for everyone who made this possible and I’m looking forward to meeting all of the players, staff and fans, as well as winning with this team,” Hayashi said in a statement.

Hayashi led the Young Nadeshiko to win the 2023 U-19 Sud Ladies Cup and runners-up titles in both the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup and 2024 Asian Football Confederation U-20 Women’s Asian Cup.

The Santa Clara University student-athlete started in all 9 appearances for the Broncos in her 2024 freshman season. She recorded 10 shots over 719 minutes.

The Chicago Stars are still waiting for their 2025 schedule to drop but the NWSL season is typically slated to start in March.
