Will Cubs-White Sox rivalry reach a new level with 2020 Crosstown Series?

4 years agoKarli Bell

The 2020 MLB schedule was released on Monday, and while the initial focus is on how the Cubs start things off against the Brewers on July 24, a late September clash with the crosstown rival White Sox has Chicago buzzing. For the first time in history, the Cubs and White Sox will end the regular season on the South Side. Len Kasper and Jim Deshaies discussed how both Chicago teams’ postseason appearances could depend on the final three games of the Crosstown Series.

“I think a lot of people feel like the Cubs have a very good chance to win the NL Central,” Deshaies said during Cubs 360 Summer Camp on Marquee Sports Network. “The White Sox are a team certainly on the rise. Whether this year is their year or not remains to be seen. Minnesota is a very good club. Cleveland is a pretty solid club, but I think the White Sox are one of those teams people all around baseball are keeping a close eye on.”

The final regular season series against the White Sox will take place September 25-27 at Guaranteed Rate Field. Prior to the season finale, the two teams will ignite the 2020 edition of the rivalry when they meet August 21-23 at Wrigley Field.
