Watch Ludmila score two goals; Stars FC grabs first win of NWSL season

8 months agoKyle Millinowisch

Chicago Stars FC earned its first win of the 2025 NWSL season Sunday, defeating Bay FC 2-1 on goals from Brazilian forward Ludmila.

Her first goal came in the fifth minute of the match after Jameese Joseph lofted a pass down the field to Ludmila, who went around the goalie and scored to give the Stars a 1-0 lead.

Ludmila celebrated her first goal of the season with a backflip at PayPal Park in San Jose.

Ludmila’s second goal also was assisted by Joseph, as she dribbled around a defender and fired a shot past Bay FC’s goalkeeper to put the Stars ahead 2-0 in the 41st minute.

Bay FC (1-1-2) scored on a 58th-minute penalty kick, but the Stars (1-0-3) held on to secure the first three points in the standings. Ludmila’s offense was desperately needed, too, as the Stars had scored only once in their previous three contests.

Stars goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher also made history Sunday. Her 71st regular-season win made her the winningest goalkeeper in NWSL history.

The Stars hope to build on this win as they take on Utah FC this Friday.
