NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky believes Bears now have Top 10 offensive line

NFL Free Agency has been a whirlwind frenzy as many teams have made moves to improve their rosters.

The Chicago Bears biggest need this offseason has been improving the offensive line. They got a head start by trading for Jonah Jackson and Joe Thuney last week. On Monday, the Bears and former Atlanta Falcons center Drew Dalman agreed on to terms on a three-year contract.

Bears GM Ryan Poles and head coach Ben Johnson have been busy providing stability to the offensive line and protecting second-year quarterback Caleb Williams.

ESPN’s “NFL Live” discussed the Bears’ signing of Dalman and former NFL quarterback and ESPN NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky pointed out the moves the Bears have made along the offensive line could make them a Top 10 unit in 2025.

“In a matter of a couple of weeks, they’ve gone from a bottom 10 offensive line to what should be a top 10 offensive line in Chicago,” Orlovsky said. “For an offensive coordinator now head coach in Ben Johnson, it’s the No. 1 thing that was the strength of his in Detroit and that’s where the creativity came from. Now this is really a massive building block for Caleb Williams’ development.

“The one complaint in college and again last year – holding on to the football, taking too many sacks. Hopefully now as a quarterback, you have so much trust built up in that offensive line that that part of your game becomes a secondary thought and the timing and rhythm of the offense is the forefront.”

Last season, the Bears offensive line gave up the most sacks of any team with 68 and ranked 25th in the league averaging 102 rushing yards a game. The Bears look to shore up their front by getting bigger and more physical in the run game and pass protection.

The Bears also agreed to terms with Colts DE Dayo Odeyingo on a three-year deal worth $48 million to provide a pass rush opposite Montez Sweat. They also agreed to terms with Falcons star defensive tackle Grady Jarrett on a three-year deal.
