Caitlin Clark to miss Fever’s rematch vs. Angel Reese, Sky with injury

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark will be out at least two weeks with a left quad strain, the team announced Monday, and that definitely will impact the June Chicago sports calendar.
Clark, who’s averaging 19.0 points, 9.3 assists and 6.0 rebounds per game this season, reportedly suffered the injury during the Fever’s Saturday game against the New York Liberty. If Clark is out the full two weeks, as reported, she will miss a June 7 rematch with Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky at United Center.
Reese and Clark have a rivalry dating to their college playing days. Reese, who went to LSU, defeated Clark, who went to Iowa, in the 2023 national championship game.
Clark exacted revenge the next season, though, as the Hawkeyes defeated the Tigers in the 2024 Elite Eight, which was Reese’s final college game.
Clark and Reese turned pro last year, and while they had memorable showdowns as WNBA rookies, their first meeting this season turned heat. The Fever routed the Sky 93-58 in the season opener, and Reese took exception to a flagrant foul committed by Clark.
After the game, the WNBA announced it would investigate alleged racist remarks made by a fan toward Reese. The league announced Tuesday night that it could not substantiate that such behavior occurred.
Clark and Reese have squared off four times in the WNBA, and the Fever are 3-1 in those matchups.
