Lindsay Allen saw passion, energy when joining Sky in free agency
The Chicago Sky added guard Lindsay Allen in free agency back in February after spending the last two seasons with the Minnesota Lynx where she averaged 6.4 ppg and 3.9 apg over two seasons; it was the fiery passion and energy out of GM Jeff Pagliocca and head coach Teresa Weatherspoon that drew her to the Windy City.
“Speaking to T-Spoon and Jeff back in February when free agency was going on, I could tell how excited they were and their passion just for this franchise but also the city,” Allen said at Media Day. “Speaking to them, it made me more excited and also just knowing a few of these players on the team already, playing with them or against them, was just a cool moment for me.”
As the season has had its ups and downs, Allen and the guard group understand that they need to give each other grace. This is a whole new franchise from general manager all the way down to the last person on the bench, but the team’s approach to something new is helping everyone learn about this system, the city and more.
“Everyone is very open-minded and receptive to everything,” Allen said. “We all know this is a new situation, and there’s going to be some learning curves. Everyone just has a great attitude. We’re all trying to learn at the same time and learn together.
“Our communication is great. We’re always talking to each other on and off the court. Even when we do get things wrong, which happens in basketball games, we’re just trying to figure out how to best get through it and whether we should do something else. Just kind of getting a feel for each other through communication has been important for us.”
