Sky’s Dana Evans building mental toughness with eyes set on All-Star Game

2 years agoKarli Bell

In her fourth year in the WNBA, point guard Dana Evans feels like she has graduated high school in her career, looking to take that next step.

One of the biggest focuses for her to get to that next level was a mental focus on how she carries herself on the court now being in a playmaker role.

“Not getting too high, not getting too low and being level-headed because I’m the point guard and they’re looking at me. Just always being even-keeled,” Evans said. “I’m so hard on myself and always want to be a perfectionist that when something goes wrong, I panic. So we’re keeping that to a minimum this year.”

While a goal for consistent mental toughness is great to have each and every day, Evans has her eyes on making her first ever All-Star Game this season.

“When I say that, people always look at it like it’s a long shot, but I know what I can do,” Evans said. “I know the work that I can put in, I believe in myself and I know what I can do. Being an All-Star is definitely a goal of mine.”
