Chicago Sky will play Brazilian National Team in preseason game at LSU

The Chicago Sky will be heading down to Bayou country for one of their 2025 WNBA preseason games. They will play against Sky center Kamilla Cardoso’s former Brazilian National Team at Sky forward Angel Reese‘s alma mater of Louisiana State University on Friday, May 2.
Reese won the national title in 2023 and was named the Most Outstanding Player in the NCAA Tournament. In that same season, she averaged a double-double of 23.0 points and 15.4 rebounds along with 2.3 assists and 1.6 blocks per game.
She then earned the 2024 SEC Player of the Year award and earned a spot on the 2024 Wooden Award All-American Team. She also was a 3-time AP All-American, 2-time First Team All-SEC member and SEC All-Defense honoree in her collegiate career.
“I’m very excited the Sky will play a preseason game at LSU,” Reese said in a press release. “It will be amazing to return to Baton Rouge, a community that means so much to me. LSU was instrumental in preparing me for the WNBA and I can’t wait to hit the court in front of both Tigers and Sky fans!”
Cardoso led the Brazilian National team into the 2024 FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament but fell short of making the Paris Olympics. During the tournament, Cardoso averaged a double-double of 15.3 points and 11.0 rebounds a game.
In 2023, Cardoso and the Brazilian National Team won gold in the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup where she averaged 10.9 points and 8.3 rebound while shooting 58.5% from the field over 7 games. That stat line garnered the title of Most Valuable Player and an All-Star center.
“I am so excited to play against my former Brazilian national team,” Cardoso said in a release. “Brazil has played such an important role in my life and has shaped the person I am today. Playing for the Sky against my former team gives me a wonderful opportunity to connect with my roots and play in front of old friends and teammates back home.”
As of Jan. 31, Moriah Jefferson, Elizabeth Williams, Rachel Banham, Lindsay Allen, and recently signed Courtney Vandersloot will be joining Reese and Cardoso for the preseason game. Free agency signings and moves will officially begin on Feb. 1 with the regular season set to start on Saturday, May 17.
